blame Mercury

On the 30th, Mercury will be stationing and going retrograde in the morning. It'll be stationing at the same degree it did on Jan. 6th, 2003 before it went direct. Since that Mercury retrograde was the one where my blinds fell on me, I cut myself, and a chair broke as I went sat on it - in the same day - I'm thinking I need to get a hard hat or something for this one. I have a grand trine in the fire signs so when Mercury goes retrograde in one of them interesting things tend to happen.

oppositions

Planets in opposition to each other will either engage in a tug-o-war or play with each other on the see-saw. Transitting planets will usually add conflict at first. They'll either pick a side in the tug-o-war or pout until they get a turn on the see-saw. If you have an opposition in your chart, you'll want to work on integrating the positive qualities of each side of the opposition.

Sacred Contracts

I've been reading and working through Sacred Contracts by Caroline Myss. One of the exercises in the book is to pick eight archetypes that apply to you in addition to the four survival archetypes that, according to this book, apply to everyone and then randomly cast them into the houses of the horoscope (it explains how to do that in the book). This is called your Chart of Origin. I so recommend trying this out. It adds another layer of understanding to your natal chart. Astrology can be very abstract, especially to beginners, and this helps to connect it to your life. It gives you personal images to work with instead of just general concepts.

empty houses

When people first see their charts, they sometimes wonder why certain houses are empty. There are eight planets and two luminaries, so at least two houses will be empty in most charts. The houses rule specific areas of life. When a house is empty, you look to the natural ruler of that house to get a sense of how you deal with that area. For example, the natural ruler of the 5th house is the Sun. If that house is empty, you'll want to look at your sun sign to get a sense of how you express your creativity. Each house has a natural ruler, but when there are planet(s) occupying a house the ruler defers to them. In other words, the natural ruler still owns the property, but the other planet(s) are taking care of it.

so retro

On the 30th of November, Mercury will be going retrograde in Sagittarius until the 20th of December. Mercury retrogrades are a good time to slow down and take stock. Reflect on the actions you have taken and see if you need to change course. This is not a time for rash action and hasty decisions. Just to be on the safe side, send important gifts or cards before the 30th. For more info on Mercury retrogrades, check out Chrissie Blaze's website

family ties

In most people's charts, the sun sign of one of their parents will show up in either the 4th or 10th house. Sometimes one will show up in the 4th and the other in the 10th. For the parent who doesn't show up in either of these houses, look at what house they do show up in. That will show you the area of your life they influence the most.

this node's for you

The Moon's nodes are mathematical points on an astrological chart. The south node is said to represent what you excel at, what you have mastered, while the north node points the way to what you need to most work on and learn.

the eclipse report part 2

One of the horoscopes I read for October, said that last week's eclipse would bring unusual events for me, which is what happened. The eclipse happened in my 6th house so I ended up experiencing mundane work junk along with the unusual events aka bizarro Wendy world. Good times.

Feel free to share your eclipse experiences.
